Today, Budweiser Stage at Home announced a special edition of the television series featuring Arkells, which will air on Saturday, August 29 on Citytv and Citytv.com at 8 p.m., as well as live-streamed on Live Nation’s Live From Home platform. Live Nation and Budweiser will bring the spirit of the iconic waterfront music venue in downtown Toronto into the homes of music fans across the country for a one-time field trip outside the city with Arkells, which will be hosted by Juno-nominated musician and Sportsnet host Tara Slone.

“Most summers we’re playing for festival crowds around the world, but this summer we’re singing to each other,” remarks lead singer Max Kerman. “Playing songs around the campfire is a summer tradition we really love, so it felt amazing to bring our songs back to an intimate place. The chance to get together with our crew to produce a full television event where fans can hear the heart and soul of these songs is something we jumped at.”

Today’s announcement follows Arkells’ release of their newest project, Campfire Chords, a stripped back collection of Arkells’ most beloved songs and marks the band’s first full-length presentation of music. As the music landscape continues to evolve in 2020, Arkells took a pause from working on their upcoming studio album and went back to their roots, reinterpreting past material and rediscovering the singer-songwriter spirit that has long informed their trademark sing-a-longs. The August 29 performance of Budweiser Stage at Home will include 7 of the band’s most familiar hits plus their brand new single “Quitting You,” as they explore the road that brought them to Campfire Chords

“We’re thrilled to welcome Arkells to the Budweiser Stage At Home program, just a few weeks after the band helped make our Budweiser #OneTeam Tribute for opening weekend of the NHL Stanley Cup qualifier series, thanking our nation’s frontline workers,” said Todd Allen, VP Marketing, Labatt Breweries of Canada. “While 2020 has changed how we connect with one another, we’re proud to be able to continue to find new ways to bring friends and families together, particularly through some unforgettable performances from acts that have played at our beloved and iconic venue, Budweiser Stage.”

The series premiered on Saturday, May 30 and has included performances from The Black Crowes, The Trews, Blue Rodeo, Alan Doyle, Barenaked Ladies, Walk Off The Earth, John Legend, Lennon Stella, Dallas Smith, Dean Brody Alanis Morissette and The Beaches. Budweiser Stage at Home hit a broadcast reach of over 2 million on Citytv. During episodes one, two and three, #BudStageAtHome was the number one Trending Topic on Twitter each night it aired.

Performances at Budweiser Stage at Home are fully produced for the home streaming experience. Performed remotely, the hour-long specials will also include exclusive interviews with the artists, celebrating music and the connection it creates regardless of where a fan is tuning in from.
