News: Dan Deacon Announces 2021 US Tour in Support of Mystic Familiar

 
Baltimore-based composer and electronic musician Dan Deacon announces a US tour in support of Mystic Familiar released last year via Domino. He’ll bring his legendary live show across the country this fall, kicking off the rescheduled tour on Oct. 8th at Asheville’s Grey Eagle. Tickets are on sale here Friday, May 7 at 10am EDT. 

“We are all beyond motivated to move on and start collectively processing what we all went through,” says Deacon. “I am hopeful that by the time October comes, all of this feels like a cast taken off a fully mended limb. The last year has shown just how vital social events, celebrations, and, most importantly, being together are. The way a walk through the woods rejuvenates the spirit, being in a crowd dancing, with sounds and lights washing over you, has a unique healing and unifying quality. The extraordinary euphoria from sharing a moment with a group of people is one of the most special feelings, and I cannot wait to experience it again with you. My shows have been centered around audience immersion, creating an atmosphere where people can collectively celebrate a simultaneously created experience. The only way for this show, or any show, to succeed is if the audience feels comfortable enough to lose themselves in the moment. It goes without saying but all our shows will be following the most up-to-date CDC guidelines.”

Mystic Familiar received glowing praise from The New York Times, NPR Music, Billboard, AV Club, The Needle Drop, and more. The album is made of 11 tracks of kaleidoscopic synth-pop that exponentially expand his sound with unfettered imagination. Three new film projects scored by Deacon premiered at Sundance 2021, including the PBS/Lens documentary series Philly D.A. and forthcoming feature films Strawberry Mansion and All Light, Everywhere. A fourth feature, the documentary Ascension, will premiere at Tribeca 2021. Deacon has also created collaborative works with the New York City Ballet, LA Phil, Kronos Quartet, and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
