Girl Talk, aka Pittsburgh-based producer Gregg Gillis, expands his 2022 North American tour, which is his first proper run in nine years. Gillis built his reputation from his meticulous construction of sample-based music and specific style of genre-smashing, breakneck-paced party jams. This sound is championed in his widely-praised euphoric live shows. Today’s newly-announced shows include Brooklyn Steel, Philadelphia’s Union Transfer, and more. Many of the previously announced dates are sold out, including Chicago’s Metro, Los Angeles’ Regent Theater, Washington, DC’s 9:30 Club, and a hometown appearance at Pittsburgh’s Stage AE. Tickets for the new shows are on sale this Friday, January 14th at 10am local time and a full list of dates can be found below. He will be joined by Los Angeles rapper Hugh Augustine on all dates.
With each Girl Talk album, from his breakout Night Ripper (2006) to Feed The Animals (2008) and his last, All Day (2010), Gillis’ work has become increasingly detailed and complex. The last several years have seen Gillis focusing on production work for some of his favorite rap artists, including Wiz Khalifa, T-Pain, Tory Lanez, Young Nudy, Bas, Cozz, Erick The Architect (from Flatbush Zombies), Smoke DZA, Don Q, and Freeway. There is more to come from Girl Talk in 2022!
