Get ready to laugh all month long: Vancouver Is Funny is set to debut this September with over 30 comedians performing across 30+ events throughout the city. Presented by MRG Live, the new annual festival celebrates Vancouver’s thriving comedy scene with a packed lineup of stand-up shows, special events, and industry collaborations.
Running from September 1 to 30, the inaugural edition will spotlight top-tier comedic talent alongside rising stars. Confirmed performers so far include Rick Mercer, Chris Fleming, and Hannah Berner, with more announcements coming soon.
The festival will take over venues big and small, including MRG-owned spaces like the Vogue Theatre, Biltmore Cabaret, and slate. Event Space, which will transform into a pop-up comedy club for the month. Additional shows will be hosted at partner venues across the city.
Vancouver Is Funny is the latest expansion of MRG Live’s growing comedy portfolio. Known for producing stand-up tours across Canada, the U.S., and Europe, the independent promoter is now rolling out a larger-scale comedy festival brand called Is Funny, with Vancouver leading the charge. The goal: to bring world-class comedy to fans while supporting emerging talent and local producers.
The festival will also team up with local organizations like the Vancouver Fringe Festival to further amplify diverse voices and expand access to live comedy across the city.
