Following two intimate US performances in 2018, described by VOGUE as “revelatory” and by UPROXXas “staggering grandeur… every single person was laser-focused on that stage and soaking in every bit of the music emitting from it,” Spiritualized have confirmed a full 2019 North American tour in support of their critically acclaimed album And Nothing Hurt (Fat Possum).
Spiritualized will kick off the N.A. tour in March with an appearance at Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, continuing with stops in cities including Chicago, Boston, Washington DC, San Francisco and Brooklyn. See below for the full list of dates.
Presales begin Wednesday, December 5th at 10am local time; tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, December 7th at 10am local time.
Following its release in September, And Nothing Hurt was unanimously praised by critics, who raved:
“The new Spiritualized album is fucking great. It’s awesome. It’s suspiciously awesome…it’s glorious…every time I listen to And Nothing Hurt, I feel myself being lifted and swept away and moved. Every time I hear it, I feel a little more alive…I’m just as glad that Pierce sat at home, figuring things out, and then came along to utterly destroy us with a record this astonishing. You’re not fooling yourself. And Nothing Hurt really is that good.” —STEREOGUM (ALBUM OF THE WEEK)
“Arguably the purest and most sentimental music J. Spaceman, a.k.a. Jason Pierce, has crafted…Nothing Hurt is the band distilled into its most affecting essence….if this really is the final Spiritualized album, as Pierce keeps threatening, it’s one hell of a grand statement to go out on.”—AV CLUB
“it stands tall as a late candidate for the year’s best rock record. Spiritualized has added yet another chapter to its wild, dreamlike musical legacy, proving that rock isn’t dead and that maybe everyone else just isn’t trying enough.”—CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND
“Distills and gathers the essence of what has often made Spiritualized so powerful…intricacy is the real delight of And Nothing Hurt. Despite the grandeur of these tunes, and the way they seem built to fill both regal concert halls and big, dark rock clubs, the best way to listen to them might be at home with lights out or eyes closed, headphones clamped tight…Pierce’s authorial scrupulousness and the same slavish devotion to an ideal that made Ladies and Gentlemen… a masterpiece and Spacemen 3 an institution gives these songs, one by one, their power.”—PITCHFORK
“Gorgeous…what binds his gushing tunefulness and subtly cutting lyrics is the relationship between the universal quest for transcendence and the near-universal suspicion it’ll never be found…something more wrenchingly true to life, an alloy of hope with a sense of life’s limits.”—THE ATLANTIC
