Interview: 5 Questions With Alt-Rocker Apricity

Posted on April 27, 2021 by

Months after bursting out onto the music scene without so much as a warning, Scottish-born, Ontario-based singer/songwriter Apricity has released her debut single and video, the alt-rock extravaganza, “All My Lies” — available now!

The Puslinch-based powerhouse first released the five-minute track back in October along with a spooky music video, which was directed by Jesse Read of Dropout Entertainment and Toronto Creative; the enchanting song and accompanying short film has already amassed more than 120,000+ streams across platforms — including 80,000+ on YouTube alone.

1. What made you want to pursue a life in music?

Music was always what I was drawn to, even as a young child. I loved listening to the radio and of course what was played on TV- music videos, Top Of The Pops. I’d run around with a hairbrush and pretend I was performing while lip-syncing. I wanted to be what I saw – artists, bands, music performers.

2. Can you tell us what you’re working on right now that most excites you?

I am working on my EP, which I am hoping to release sometime late summer. It is amazing to me that I am able to do this. Sometimes I feel it isn’t real – haha

I am also working on a very exciting collaboration with a very talented Artist. Stay tuned for that!

3. Who are your biggest influences?

I have to say, over the past few months it is definitely the people within the Canadian Independent Music Industry. The work ethic, from the sound engineers to the producers, artists themselves is unbelievable. Especially now, working hard to adapt to the times and keep the industry alive within the pandemic. I just had the opportunity to perform at the Canadian Independent Music Video Awards, hosted by Dropoutentertainment. The work they put in to make this happen and all the artists involved, truly inspirational. Very proud to be part of The Canadian Music Scene

4. What was your favourite live concert and why?

A few years ago I saw Rod Stewart at Rexall Place in Edmonton. I had been given the tickets. Wow. He is amazing live. His interaction with the audience was beyond believe and his dance moves… number 1! He is an amazing performer.

5. What would you like to say to your old/new fans?

Give back. Take care of one another and be kind. Turn up the music and enjoy the story. We need you. We appreciate you!
