The Fray Announce 2026 “Summer Of Light Tour” Dates

Multi-Platinum alt-rock staples The Fray have officially announced their return to the spotlight with the Summer of Light Tour. This massive North American trek, promoted by Live Nation, serves as a celebration of the band’s enduring legacy and the start of a vital new creative chapter. Joining them on the road for select dates is an incredible roster of special guests, including Dashboard Confessional, Colony House, The Strumbellas, and Brother Elsey.
The tour is set to support the band’s upcoming album, A Light That Waits, which is scheduled to arrive on March 13. This record marks The Fray’s first full-length release in several years and represents a renewed sense of emotional clarity and cinematic songwriting. The title track, “A Light That Waits,” is already available for fans to stream, offering a powerful glimpse into the band’s next era. Written by Joe King, Ben Wysocki, and Dave Welsh in collaboration with producer Jason Suwito, the song was the first piece of music born from the trio writing from scratch in Wysocki’s Denver studio. According to King, the process required the members to truly listen to one another to find the heart of the song, a sentiment that reflects the beauty of their continued bond as a band.
Rising to prominence in the early 2000s, The Fray became a household name with a soul-searching sound that balanced intimacy with expansive rock arrangements. Over their storied career, they have earned four GRAMMY nominations, three Billboard Music Awards, and a devoted global following. Their Diamond-certified anthem, “How to Save a Life,” remains a defining cultural touchstone, but as guitarist Dave Welsh notes, the band felt they had more stories to tell. The upcoming album and tour are a testament to respecting the spirit of their work and the fans who have asked for more. The new 11-track project features production from Jason Suwito and Ryan Linvill, following the success of 2025 singles like “My Heart’s a Crowded Room” and “Emerald.”
For fans in British Columbia, the most anticipated stop on the calendar is the band’s return to one of the city’s most iconic venues. The Fray will perform at the Orpheum in Vancouver on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. The historic theatre provides the perfect acoustic and aesthetic backdrop for the band’s piano-driven rock, and the atmosphere is expected to be electric as they share the stage with Canadian favourites The Strumbellas. This performance is a key highlight of the Western Canadian leg, following stops in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, and Calgary.
The Summer of Light Tour promises to be a nostalgic yet forward-looking experience, blending the classic hits that shaped the 2000s with the fresh, collaborative energy of their new material. Drummer Ben Wysocki expressed the band’s excitement about returning to the summer circuit, noting that the vibe of touring during the warmer months has always fostered a deep connection between the group and their audience. With a setlist expected to range from “Over My Head (Cable Car)” to their latest compositions, this tour is a must-see event for the local music scene.
Tickets for the Vancouver show and the rest of the tour will be available starting with a Seated registration presale on Wednesday, January 28, at 10:00 am local time. Fans can sign up now at the band’s official website to gain access. Additional presales will take place throughout the week before the general on-sale begins on Friday, January 30, at 10:00 am local time.
