What do you get when you combine a crowd of excited fans, an iconic ’90s pop group, and a whole lot of pink? A magical night with Aqua. The Danish-Norwegian quartet took the stage at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver on September 5, 2025, to kick off their highly anticipated tour. And if this show was any indication, fans across the country are in for a treat.
From the very beginning, the energy was high. The audience, a vibrant mix of millennials and new fans, was buzzing with excitement, many dressed in various shades of Barbie pink to celebrate the band’s recent Grammy nomination. The atmosphere felt like a summer party, a nostalgic tribute to the band’s iconic ’90s aesthetic.

The band wasted no time, launching into a setlist that was pure “fan service.” They played nearly every track from their smash hit debut album, Aquarium, treating the crowd to classics like “Back to the 80s,” “Around the World,” and of course, “Barbie Girl.”
Co-lead singer René Dif was a ball of pure energy, constantly engaging with the crowd, leaping off the stage, and even running down the aisles. The band’s live performance gave their classic songs a new, punchier edge, transforming sugary pop tunes into something more like high-octane rock anthems.

Another memorable moment came during a DJ intermission, where René Dif took to the turntables and had everyone dancing to a brief blast of Darude’s “Sandstorm,” a perfect nod to the era that launched Aqua into superstardom.
The show concluded with a high-energy encore of “Roses Are Red,” leaving the crowd elated. With this incredible start, Aqua has set the bar high for the rest of their tour. They proved that their music is more than just ’90s nostalgia; it’s a timeless celebration of pure, unadulterated pop fun.
