Shows we'd buy tickets for

The Head and the Heart — Orpheum Theatre, Wednesday, July 8

Seattle's The Head and the Heart turned hand-clapped, harmony-rich folk-rock into a generational touchstone with their 2011 self-titled debut, and this tour marks the record's 15th birthday. On the road to celebrate the anniversary, the band is playing that 2011 LP — "Down in the Valley," "Lost in My Mind," "Rivers and Roads" and all — from front to back, alongside more from across their catalogue. The ornate, all-seated Orpheum is about as fitting a room as Vancouver offers for a night of communal singalongs. The Brudi Brothers open. Tickets.

JINJER — Commodore Ballroom, Wednesday, July 8

One of modern metal's most riveting live acts, Ukraine's JINJER built their reputation on the vocal range of Tatiana Shmayluk, who swings from soulful cleans to guttural roars mid-phrase. The band brings its most recent album, Duél, to the Commodore for what's billed as the final run of that album cycle — their first North American headline tour since 2024. Groove-heavy, technical and cathartic, it's a bucket-list show for anyone who likes their riffs progressive and their energy relentless. Crystal Lake and Entheos support select dates. Tickets.

Wakin Chau — Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Thursday, July 9

A titan of Mandarin-language pop for more than three decades, Wakin Chau (周華健) brings his Younger Me Concerts Tour 3.0 to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Beloved across the Chinese-speaking world for songs performed in Mandarin, Cantonese and English, Chau pairs a warm stage presence and a powerful tenor with a songbook that turns a theatre into a mass singalong. It's a rare Vancouver stop on a tour that's also touched London and Toronto. Tickets.

Iam Tongi — PNE Forum, Friday, July 10

Iam Tongi became the first Hawaiian and first Pacific Islander to win American Idol when he took season 21 in 2023, and he has spent the time since turning that breakthrough into a career built on acoustic warmth and island soul. He released his debut album, Good for My Soul, in March 2026 and brings those songs to the PNE Forum. Expect a heartfelt, family-friendly night from one of the show's most likeable champions. Tickets.

Cannons — Commodore Ballroom, Sunday, July 12

Los Angeles trio Cannons make the kind of neon-lit, cinematic synth-pop built for late nights, anchored by Michelle Joy's smoky vocals and Ryan Clapham and Paul Davis's widescreen production. Fresh off their fifth album, Everything Glows, released this spring, the band closes out the week at the Commodore. If you like your dream-pop woozy, glossy and heavy on the hooks, this is the Sunday-night ticket. Tickets.

Deeper cuts: Have a Nice Life, Goat and Lucero

The week's back half rewards the crate-diggers. On Saturday, July 11, Connecticut cult heroes Have a Nice Life bring the doom-laden art-rock of their revered 2008 debut Deathconsciousness to The Pearl, with Bosse-de-Nage and Rhododendron (tickets). Sunday, July 12 is a two-for-one for the adventurous: Sweden's masked psych collective Goat conjure their fuzz-and-percussion ritual at The Pearl (tickets), while Memphis alt-country stalwarts Lucero bring their whiskey-worn Southern rock to the Hollywood Theatre with Thomas Dollbaum (tickets).
