From Reykjavík to a six-year hiatus - and back

Of Monsters and Men broke out of Iceland's tight-knit music scene in the early 2010s with My Head Is an Animal (2011), a debut powered by the inescapable, foot-stomping single "Little Talks." The band's big-hearted, harmony-stacked folk-rock - equal parts campfire singalong and indie anthem - turned songs like "Mountain Sound," "Dirty Paws" and "King and Lionheart" into festival staples and earned them a global following. They followed it with the darker, more electric Beneath the Skin (2015) and the synth-leaning Fever Dream (2019) before stepping back from the spotlight.

That pause ended in October 2025 with All Is Love and Pain in the Mouse Parade, the group's fourth studio album and first full-length in six years, released through their own Skarkali label. Led by founding singer Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir, the record trades some of the band's stadium-sized choruses for a more introspective, atmospheric kind of folk-rock, drawing strong reviews and charting across Europe and North America. The tour takes its name from the album's surreal closing track, "Mouse Parade."

Why the Queen Elizabeth Theatre show is worth catching

Of Monsters and Men have the catalogue to fill arenas, which makes a stop at the seated, roughly 2,700-capacity Queen Elizabeth Theatre feel like a treat. The room's clean sightlines and warm acoustics are tailor-made for a band that lives and dies by its vocal harmonies and dynamic builds - the hushed verses of the new material should land just as hard as the roof-raising hooks fans already know by heart.

The date also lands in one of the busiest stretches of the Vancouver concert year, with the Queen Elizabeth Theatre hosting a packed summer 2026 slate and arena and theatre headliners stacked across the city through August.
